Poland to invest in Iranian pharmaceutical industries

TEHRAN, Sep. 27 (MNA) – Iran’s Health Minister announced that Poland will invest in Iranian industries of pharmaceutics and medical equipment.

In a meeting with the Polish Prime Minister and Minister of Economy on Sunday morning in Tehran, Iranian Health Minister Seyed Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi underlined the need to develop relations with Poland adding that, “Iran’s biggest asset is it’s youth and specialists who are interested in promoting technology in the country.”

Explaining the country’s state of healthcare and education in the field of medicine to the Polish delegation, Iran’s Health Minister said that, “although in terms of knowledge production we rank first in the region and 16th in the world, we are away from our desired position with regard to technology.”

Announcing that 96 percent of the needed pharmeutics is indigenously produced, Hashemi asserted that, “currently, we train specialists in all medical fields and we host students from the countries in the region.”

“For more than two decades, Iran has been unrivaled in the region in the fields of kidney, heart, pancreas, and intestines transplantation and we receive many patients from regional countries for treatment despite the presence of sanctions,” Hashemi continued.

Hashemi further said that Iran has always sought peaceful use of nuclear energy in the fields of health.

Expressing satisfaction towards the agreement between Iran and 5+1, he stated that, “we are sorry that our country was deprived of its most basic rights and needs for 12 years.”

The official emphasized full implementation of the agreements between the two sides expressing hope for development of wider cooperation with Poland.

In response to the offer of a Polish company present at the meeting to build a specialized hospital in Iran, Hashemi announced Iran’s readiness to cooperate with Poland on this issue.

At the end of the meeting, Hashemi thanked the government of Poland for its support of Iran during the sanction years.
