Iran, Denmark to resume direct flights in 2016

23 Sep 2015 - 16:47

The first flights between Denmark and Iran will begin in March 2016, operated by Iranian airline Mahan Air, ending an eight-year suspension of direct flights between the capitals of the two countries, Copenhagen Airport A/S said on Tuesday.

The announcement comes after Denmark’s largest company, drug maker Novo Nordisk said it would invest 70 million euros ($78.13 million) in the country to build a manufacturing plant.

Companies have been looking to do business in Iran, home to more than 77 million consumers, after the Islamic Republic struck a nuclear accord with major powers that is expected to lead to the lifting of sanctions.
