18 Sep 2015 - 14:20

Tehran, Sept 18, IRNA – Iran's deputy foreign minister has slammed the Saudis for their negligence in providing security for Hajj pilgrims, and strongly underlined the accountability of the Saudi government in the deadly crane collapse.

The collapse of a crane in Al-Masjid al-Haram (The Holy Mosque) in Mecca last week caused the death of more than 100 Hajj pilgrims among them some Iranians.
'Bodies of seven Iranian pilgrims died in the Mecca accident will arrive in Mashad in Friday morning and will be transferred to Tehran by a Mashad-Tehran flight,' said Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Friday.
Based on recent reports bodies of the dead Iranian pilgrims have arrived in Tehran Mehrabad Airport.
The injured are well treated, Amir- Abdollahian said.
Iran will continue to dispatch seasonal Hajj pilgrims to Mecca on condition that the Saudi side provides guarantees that Iranian pilgrims' security and safety is completely addressed and necessary rulings and assurances are in place that the two offending officers in the Jeddah Airport are punished, he added.
