Iran Shahid Rajaie Port’s railroad transit rises by 64 percent

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Railroad transit at Shahid Rajaie Port, located in southern Iran and is the country’s biggest container port, grew by 64 percent in the first five months of Iranian calendar year (started on March 21, 2015).

2.2 million tons of commercial cargo have been transferred in the port via railroad during the above-mentioned period rising by 64 percent comparing to similar period last year.

It is expected that the port would turn out to be Persian Gulf hub in the future.

The goods which include oil and non-oil merchandise show a considerable rise in the transit volume.

Ibrahim Ideni who is the managing director of ports and navigation of Hormozgan Province said that the volume of railroad transit in the port over the similar period last year included 1.357 million tons of goods, showing traders’ willingness to use railroad.
