Iran ready to give Afghanistan access to Chabahar FTZ

TEHRAN, Sep. 08 (MNA) – Iran is ready to provide Afghanistan with access to facilities available in Chabahar Free Zone, said Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade.

Afkhami Rad made these remarks during a meeting in Kabul with Afghan Minister of Commerce and Industries Homayoun Rassa on the sidelines of the sixth Regional Economic Cooperation Conference for Afghanistan (RECCA) asserting that, “this conference provides an opportunity for bringing international views closer together.”

The official further called for the development of industrial clusters as a model for successful and efficient way out of the current situation emphasizing the promotion of commercial exchanges.

Meanwhile, the Afghan minister called for enhanced cooperation between Tehran and Kabul and promotion of bilateral trade.

Rassa noted that, “Afghanistan is willing to make use of capacities of Chabahar Port to meet its needs.”

The two sides stressed the need to increase and organize deployment and adoption of specialized delegation from Afghanistan to Iran and vice versa.

During the meeting, it was noted that Iran-Afghanistan trade stands at $1 billion and that Iran is the fifth largest exporter of commodities to Afghanistan.
