Iranian envoy, Iraqi president discuss security issues

Baghdad, Sept 6, IRNA – Iranian Ambassador to Iraq Hassan Danayeefar and Iraqi President Fouad Massoum in a meeting here on Sunday discussed important regional issues, including security crisis in the region.

Campaign against extremism, security issues in Iraq and the region as well as economic cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad were the most important topics discussed between the Iranian envoy and the Iraqi president.

The two sides also talked about coordination and regional and international cooperation.

The Iraqi president pointed to Iran's role in the war against terrorism in the region and appreciated Iran for its timely assistance and contribution to his country in the war against Daesh.

President Massoum described Iran-Iraq relations as historical and underlined the need for the further expansion of such relations in all political, economic and cultural spheres.
