Deputy FM: Friends during sanctions era not to be forgotten

Tehran, Aug 31, IRNA – Iran will never forget those countries which were with us during the sanctions period and supported us, said deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs on Monday in closing ceremony of Iran-South Africa Political Committee.

The 66th session of Iran-South Africa Committee to Pursue Political Agreements' Implementation, headed by deputy foreign ministers of the two countries Amir-Abdollahian and Ms. Emphecto, ended its activities on Monday evening.

Amir-Abdollahian in the ceremony referred to the record of South Africa's presence in such major projects as the MTN and Aria-Sasol in Iran, stressing that in the newly-emerged atmosphere, South Africa can invest in major projects especially in oil, gas and petrochemical projects.

The South African deputy foreign minister, too, said that very constructive talks were held during two working days of bilateral talks and the South African side realized that there is are broad capacities for cooperation to secure both nations' interests.

'Therefore, both the South African president and his vice president will visit Iran to pursue this commission's achievements,' she added.

Ms. Emphecto is leading a delegation comprised of deputy energy, security, and treasure ministers, as well as some 30 top government managers in this visit of Iran.

The South African delegation's members have during their visit in Iran met and conferred with many Iranian high ranking officials and signed agreements.
