12 Aug 2015 - 12:43

A senior Iranian commander says the country’s air defense units are fully prepared to ward off any acts of aggression against the Islamic Republic’s territory.

Speaking on Tuesday night, Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili, the commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base, said that Iran is keeping a watchful eye on any sorts of threats from land, air and sea.

“If enemy seeks to invade our territory, it will receive a slap in the face from Iran’s Armed Forces,” Esmaili said, adding that the country’s Air Defense units are "quick on the trigger" to counter any threats.

The commander also described Iran’s air space as one the world’s safest, saying Iran’s Air Force units are deployed in some 3,700 locations across the country to defend the Islamic Republic’s territory.

Also touching on Iran’s defense achievements, the top general said that Iran has attained self-sufficiency in terms of military equipment, stressing that the country has manufactured different types of long-range missiles as well as powerful radar systems to monitor enemy moves.

In recent years, Iran has made major breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.

The country has manufactured different types of state-of-the-art radar systems, including Arash-2 and Kayhan, as well as missiles, including Khalij-e-Fars (Persian Gulf), Mehrab (Altar), Ra'd (Thunder), Qader (Mighty), Nour (Light) and Zafar (Triumph).

The Islamic Republic has repeatedly assured other nations, particularly its neighbors, that its military might poses no threat to other countries, insisting that its defense doctrine is merely based on deterrence.
