The Leipzig Media Foundation has decided to award this year’s Prize for the Freedom and Future of the Media to Jafar Panahi, an Iranian film director.

The German foundation has said that the 30,000-euros award will be bestowed to Jafar Panahi and Turkey’s Nedim Sener, citing the pair’s efforts in favor of freedom in their countries.

The award ceremony will be held on Oct. 8 in Leipzig.
