German firms urged to make top-quality products in Iran

9 Aug 2015 - 10:38

Iran says it wants German industries to launch production lines to manufacture top quality products in the country.

“German companies should also be ready to invest in Iran as well as be willing for a transfer of technology know-how to Iran,” said Ali Majedi, Iran’s ambassador to Germany.

“German firms can in the future also manufacture their products in Iran where they can also have their trademark quality certifications,” he told the Frankfurt-based daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper.

Majedi said that officials in Tehran are specifically eager to see small-and mid-sized German companies to set up their businesses in Iran.

He added that the energy sector and automobile industry are areas where both countries can step up their cooperation.

The official further emphasized that Tehran and Berlin are planning to revive a joint economic commission which will devise a roadmap for promoting economic ties between Iran and Germany.

He said the commission will convene soon to take the preliminary measures for the drafting of the roadmap, IRNA reported.

Iran hosted a major German trade delegation on July 19. The delegation that was led by German vice-chancellor and economic minister, Sigmar Gabriel, held a series of top-level meetings with Iranian officials to discuss the avenues for investing in various Iranian industries.
