Track 143 awarded at Sydney Film Festival

Tehran, July 31, IRNA – Acclaimed Iranian war drama Track 143 directed by filmmaker Narges Abyar won Audience Award for Best Film at Annual Reel Sydney Festival of World Cinema.

The well-received moviein in Sidney, has so far participated in various film festivals including in South Korea, USA, India and Singapore, MNA reported.

The movie premiered at Iran’s 2014 Fajr International Film Festival and garnered rave reviews by critics and audience.

Abyar’s film received both the Crystal Phoenix for Audience Favorite Film at this year’s Fajr festival and the event’s Best Actress Award that was presented to the film’s leading role actress Merila Zarei.

The film has already won Special Jury Award for Best Actress at the Asia-Pacific Film Festival in Australia.

Track 143 is a screen adaptation of Abyar’s novel titled The Third Eye that narrates the story of a woman during Iran’s sacred defense.

The movie tells the story a mother waiting for her son who has been missing in Pre-operation Valfajr during Iran-Iraq war. She looks forward to return of his son for many years until she embraces his bones.

Track 143 refers to one of Iranian troops' track that located in Chazzabeh region where her son’s dead body was found.

Annual Reel Sydney Festival of World Cinema is a screen culture initiative by Cinewest in partnership with Sutherland Shire Council to be held at Sutherland Entertainment Centre during July 24-25, 2015.

The festival presents the best of World Cinema has to offer in a special curatorial program for Sydney region audiences. The features selected are accompanied by award winning short films.
