29 Jul 2015 - 14:18

Tehran, July 29, IRNA - Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif expressed hope that Iran-France relations could be developed in near future.

Zarif made the remarks in a joint press conference with visiting French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius.

Touching upon his meeting with Fabius on Wednesday morning, Zarif reiterated that proper discussions have been held aimed at fostering regional cooperation to tackle terrorism and extremism.

'Iran and France, both, enjoy ancient-old cooperation,' Zarif said, expressing hope that mutual all-out relations could be expanded in near future.

'The implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) would pave the way for reinforcement of relations in energy, transportation and auto manufacturing industry with France,' he said.

Pointing to the upcoming travel of a French economic delegation to Tehran in September, Zarif reiterated that the visit would prepare the ground for more bilateral cooperation in future.

' Iran and France also have decided to expand the political negotiations in future,' Zarif added.

'The two countries could also expand relations in the fields of tackling extremism, terrorism, narcotics trafficking and the environment,' he added.
