Zarif will not go to BRICS meeting

Vienna, July 7, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Tuesday that he will not attend BRICS meeting, because he should stay in Vienna for nuclear talks.

Zarif made the remarks in a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

'I was supposed to return Tehran to accompany President Rouhani to take part in BRICS Summit in Ufa, but, unfortunately I have to stay in Vienna for nuclear talks.

Meanwhile, Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit meeting will be held in city of Ufa, capital of Bashkortostan Republic of Russia, on July 9-10.

The SCO is a regional inter-governmental organization aiming to develop multilateral cooperation in the field of security and economy.

Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan are current members of the organization.

Mongolia, India, Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan have observer statute and Sri Lanka and Armenia as partner in talk are participating in the meeting.

The 7th BRICS summit also convened in city of Ufa, simultaneously with SCO summit.

BRICS included Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
