Former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that he does not have any plan for or any interest in running for elected office, although calls on him and his supporters to stand are getting louder.

Denouncing as baseless media reports about his probable candidacy, Ahmadinejad said, “If I intended to do so, I would explicitly announce it to the public. For the moment, my friends and I view reflection on Imam Khomeini’s line of thinking as the most important job.”
