President hails police in fighting drugs

TEHRAN, Jun. 21 (MNA) – Iran’s Hassan Rouhani has told a meeting of Drug Control Headquarters other countries should attend their responsibilities in fighting drug trafficking.

Hassan Rouhani was quoted by President’s official website report on Sunday saying that the sacrifices made by the public as well as by Iran’s Law Enforcement Force (police) curbed the influx of drugs towards the EU, adding that the responsibility was not only Iran’s, and that all countries should have a hand in fighting drug traffic.

President Rouhani told the meeting that the drug addicts had been trapped in a network of causes, with drugs as major cast; he urged participation of NGOs in prevention sector.

Rouhani hailed the Forces’ sacrifices in borders fighting drug cartels and contribution as well as other military forces in borders. He highlighted the social vulnerability which should be targeted effectively through joint cooperation and attempts of all government bodies.

“A critical point here is the understanding of the young generation of the risks and hazards of the drugs; all conditions should be provided for the youth to safely input their energies in healthy recreations and avoid drugs,” Rouhani told the meeting.
