TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian national football team defeated Uzbekistan in a friendly thanks to an injury time goal by Mehdi Torabi.

Torabi scored in the 93rd minute in his debut.

The friendly match held in Tashkent in preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification.

Iran's coach Carlos Queiroz used six new players in the match against Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan was better team in the first half and its strikers squandered several chances but Iran came back into the game after interval especially in final 10 minutes.

Iran will play Turkmenistan on June 16 in its away in Group D match while Uzbekistan will face North Korea in Pyongyang in Group H.
