Russia and China have expressed hope that Iran and the P5+1 group of countries would reach a final agreement on Tehran’s nuclear program by a self-imposed June 30 deadline.

"We are hoping that a fully-fledged agreement, which will become an important landmark in the history of the nuclear non-proliferation regime, will be reached by the established deadline, June 30," Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said at a round-table meeting in the Federation Council on Monday.

He stressed the importance of recognizing Iran's right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, including uranium enrichment under effective international control.

"We will continue working to achieve a result," the Russian official said.

China’s pledge of joint efforts on final nuclear deal

China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying on Monday said talks between Iran and the P5+1 countries are advancing with a generally positive momentum and expressed her country’s willingness to make joint efforts to reach the final agreement.

Addressing a regular press conference, she added that all the negotiating sides are displaying strong political will to reach an early agreement and find solutions to focal issues.

She added that both Iran and the six countries are speeding up the negotiations over the text of the final agreement, saying the talks have come to the final stage.

“China hopes that all parties would cherish what has been achieved, accumulate more favorable conditions, remove all interference, make a prompt political decision and strive to reach the comprehensive agreement as scheduled,” Hua said.

Iran and the P5+1 -- the United States, France, Britain, Russia and China -- are seeking to finalize a comprehensive deal on Iran’s nuclear issue before June 30. The two sides have been working on the text of the potential deal ever since they reached a mutual understanding on its parameters in the Swiss city of Lausanne on April 2.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and US Secretary of State John Kerry held talks in Geneva, Switzerland, on Saturday following a round of three-day Iran-P5+1 talks at the deputy level in the Austrian capital of Vienna.
