6 Apr 2015 - 9:29

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that comprehensive agreement on Iran's nuclear program between Tehran and the six international mediators will spark an arms race among the Sunni states, a nuclear arms race in the Middle East.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A comprehensive agreement on Iran's nuclear program between Tehran and the six international mediators will prompt an arms race among the Sunni states and a nuclear arms race in the Middle East, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday."It would spark an arms race among the Sunni states, a nuclear arms race in the Middle East," Netanyahu said on NBC News' Meet the Press Sunday.

Netanyahu, who also appeared on CNN's State of the Union and ABC's This Week, called for the rejection of a preliminary nuclear framework agreement struck on April 2 between the P5+1 group of negotiators and Iran.

The Israeli prime minister's remark came days after the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Russia, China, Germany and Iran reached a framework of a nuclear agreement in the Swiss city of Lausanne.Tehran agreed, among other things, to cut the number of centrifuges by more than two-thirds in 10 years, as well as not to enrich uranium over 3.67 percent for 15 years in exchange for relief from economic sanctions.

The deadline for a final deal is set for July 2015.
