Berlin, April 3, IRNA - German Chancellor Angela Merkel welcomes the outcome of the Iran negotiations in Lausanne, Switzerland, branding it 'an important step' towards a comprehensive final deal, according to a spokerperson for Merkel.




An important step towards a final accord has been achieved by agreeing on the parameters of a final agreement after lengthy negotiations, deputy government spokeswoman Christiane Wirtz said in a press statement.

We have never been this close to an agreement which would make it impossible for Iran to acquire nuclear weapons, added Wirtz.

Iran has time and again vehemently denied it was trying to build or obtain nuclear arms.

According to Wirtz, Merkel phoned US President Barack Obama to hail the results of the Iran nuclear talks.
