Police chief: West will soon see boomerang effects of supporting ISIL

10 Feb 2015 - 17:22

Iran's police chief Brigadier General Ismail Ahmadi-MoqaddamTEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's Police Chief Brigadier General Esmayeel Ahmadi Moqaddam underlined that the support extended by certain western and regional states for the terrorist groups, including the ISIL, is backfiring on them.

"The ISIL is one of the causes of insecurity (in the region) which has been created by certain states, but they can no more control it and this insecurity is returning to those countries which have created the ISIL just like a boomerang," Ahmadi Moqaddam said in the Southern province of Hormozgan on Tuesday.

He, meantime, underscored Iran's high security despite being located in a volatile region and facing the threat of drug traffickers, and said, "While the Islamic Republic has gained remarkable achievements in different fields, including science, technology, economy and policy, what has surprised the big powers is the security in Iran and the way our country has turned into one of the most secure world states."

In relevant remarks earlier this month, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary and Expatriates Affairs Hassan Qashqavi lashed out at the western states for supporting the ISIL and al-Nusrah Front terrorist groups to achieve their ominous goals.

Addressing a gathering in Tehran, Qashqavi said, "The secular western streams in the US and Europe support the ISIL and al-Nusrah as sectarian movements in Syria for different reasons, including gaining advantage."

He stressed that the discriminatory policies exercised by the European and US governments against different people was the driving force behind the creation of terrorist groups like the ISIL and al-Nusrah Front and membership of a large number of western youth in such groups.

Qashqavi lambasted the double-standard behavior of the western states, and said Europeans were supporting the ISIL for the sake of their own benefits.

If they claim to be supporting such terrorist groups due to their wide support for all religious streams, then they should be asked why the European officials don’t allow freedom of hijab (Islamic code of dressing) in many places in their countries, he asked.

In relevant remarks in January, another Iranian Deputy Foreign, Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, also lashed out at the western states for supporting terrorism and extremism in the Middle East.

“From the very outset of the crisis in Syria, the Islamic Republic of Iran repeatedly warned the West and some regional countries not to exploit terrorism,” Amir Abdollahian said.

He reiterated that the negative consequences of exploiting terrorism had affected the whole region and the international community.

Amir Abdollahian urged the West and some regional countries to avoid dubious policies towards terrorism.

He pointed to Iran's support for the regional countries in their fight against terrorism, and said, "Iran will vigorously continue fighting terrorism in the region at the request of and in full coordination and cooperation with the governments of Syria and Iraq."
