Larijani urges consensus in showing true face of Islam

TEHRAN, Feb. 04 (MNA) – Iran’s Parliament speaker has met with his Malaysian counterpart here in Tehran.
Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, while pointing to the nuclear talks with the 5+1, rejected the West concern over Iran’s nuclear program, stressing upon Leader’s fatwa saying the production, stockpiling and use of nuclear weapons is forbidden.


Malaysia's Parliament Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia who is in Tehran along with a parliamentary delegation, met and discussed with his Iranian counterpart Ali Larijani later on Tuesday.


Calling Iran-Malaysia relations good and long-standing, Larijani said the two Muslim countries, with a rich history of good and dynamic relations, have always taken positive steps towards strengthening cooperation and interaction.


Using numerous existing capacities, Larijani added, the two countries should further expand development of ties in political, economic, commercial, cultural and tourism fields.


Pointing to the regional and international developments, Larijani called on leaders of Islamic countries to reach consensus and be unified in showing the true face of Islam, a religion of humanity and excellence.


Larijani pointed to Iran's nuclear talks with the 5+1 and rejected the West's concern over Iran’s nuclear program, stressing upon Leader’s fatwa saying the production, stockpiling and use of nuclear weapons is forbidden. “The general approach by Iran’s Parliament is to support the diplomatic efforts to resolve the nuclear issue.”


Malaysia's Parliament Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia, for his part, emphasized the further deepening of bilateral ties in political, legislative, economic, trade and cultural fields.


Stressing that Iranian people are friends of Malaysians, Amin Mulia pointed out the cultural and tourism potentials and asked for an increase in exchanges between the two countries in the areas of interest.


Malaysian counterpart also stressed the need for unified efforts in countering terrorism and extremism, saying that his country has taken necessary measures to campaign against the ISIL ideology and its extremist activities.
