27 Jan 2015 - 10:25

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zari called on the EU to play ‘more active’ role in the course of negotiations between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany.
“The EU can play a more active role in nuclear talks between Iran and G5+1,” he said in a meeting with his Portuguese counterpart Rui Machete here in Tehran, as hailing the current EU approach opposing pressure and new embargo on Iran.

Zarif also hailed boosting bilateral cooperation between Iran and Portugal in all fields, saying, “The two countries hold good potentials for increasing economic cooperation, and private sectors of the two countries are engine of the cooperation.”

He also called for strengthening bilateral cooperation on tourism.

Rui Machete, for his part, called Iran one of the most important players in the Middle East helping establishment of peace and calm in the region.

He stressed Iran’s right for use of peaceful nuclear energy, and expressed the hope that negotiations between Iran and G5+1 could yield results faster.
