Iran's nuclear issue should be resolved only by using political and diplomatic means, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Monday.

MOSCOW, January 26 (Sputnik) – Iran’s nuclear issue should be solved so as not to create risks or threats to security of other countries in the region, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Monday.
“We are convinced that only a political diplomatic solution to the issue is possible. We categorically insist that the problem is solved so as not to create any risks or threats to security of countries in the region, including of course Israel,” Lavrov said during a joint press conference with Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman in Moscow.

In his turn, Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said that his country so far sees no agreement on Iran’s nuclear program that would suit everyone.

“In regards to the Iranian issue, we are following the 5+1 and Iran talks very closely. Our approach is that it’s better to have no agreement than a bad one. So far we don’t see a good agreement that would suit everyone,” Lieberman said.
The West and Israel suspect Iran of developing a nuclear weapon under the guise of a civilian nuclear program, while Tehran claims its activities have purely peaceful implications. International mediators and Iran have been trying to achieve a deal on the issue since mid-2000s.
In November 2013, Iran and the P5+1 group of mediators, which includes China, Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Germany, agreed to strike a long-term agreement on Iran's nuclear program within a year. However, the subsequent talks failed to result in a comprehensive deal and the deadline has been moved to July 2015.
