Iran ready for sharing security, military expertise with Iraq

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani-Fazli said the country is ready to transfer security, military and training experiences and expertise and exchanging information with Iraq.
“We have had cooperated well on security and military domains with Iraq as well as sharing experiences with the country for training purposes. We have also discussed ways for boosting this type of cooperation,” he said in a press conference with his Iraqi counterpart Mohammed Salem al-Ghabban here in Tehran.

Rahmani-Fazli also reiterated that Iraq’s security is important as Iran’s security. “Providing Iraq’s security is part of our religious teachings and our national obligation.”

Mohammed Salem al-Ghabban, for his part, said, “No doubt that we will work with Iran on different fields not only on intelligence, given our security needs. We will also get help from Iran on training forces and receiving security equipment.”

He appreciated Iran for fighting against the ISIL terrorists and providing equipment and facilities for battling the terrorist group.

The Iraqi minister is in Tehran at the invitation of Rahmani-Fazli and will hold further meetings with high-ranking Iranian officials.
