7 Jan 2015 - 16:32

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iran's steel production has grown in the first eight months of Iranian calendar year (started on March 21, 2014).
The country's output jumped respectively by 6.8 and 4.8 percent in terms of raw steel and steel products during the period.

Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad-Reza Nemat-Zadeh has said that the country can obtain self-sufficiency in steel output and export 10 to 20 million tons of steel if it keeps the same volume of production.

He has said that Iran's steel exports would raise multiple by 2022.

Iranian steel making companies made 11.266.882 tons steel during the first eight months of Iranian calendar year, rising by one million ton comparing to similar period last year.

Iran also made 11.655.987 tons of steel products, including galvanized sheet, rebar, iron beam and pipe this year.

A member of Iranian Steel Producers Association Presidium Ahmad Khorvash said the country has managed to stand as the world's largest raw steel producer despite sanctions.

Iran made 15.6 and 16.5 million tons of respectively raw steel and steel outputs by the end of previous Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20, 2014), he said.
