Iran, Tunisia form joint tradesmen council

Tehran, Dec 30, IRNA – Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade announced formation of a joint tradesmen council of Iran and Tunisia and expressed hope that relations between entrepreneurs and economic and commercial activists of the two countries will further increase.
Speaking at the 12th session of Iran-Tunisia joint commission for economic and trade cooperation Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh termed bilateral relations diversified and expanded. “The two countries are interested in development of ties and we have prepared the ground for the development of relations in different economic and commercial fields.”
Noting that in recent years a qualitative rise has been witnessed in Iran-Tunisia relations, Nematzadeh stressed that political stands of the two countries have become closer.

He described grounds for bilateral cooperation between the two countries diversified and said there are proper grounds available for bilateral cooperation in the field of communication and marine transportation.

The minister pointed to opportunities for the investment of the public and private sectors and said private sectors of the two countries can make joint investment in sectors which serve the interest of both the countries provided that such investments enjoy the required technical and economic justifications.

He then referred to the outcomes of the previous session of the joint commission and said preferential tariff agreement is among major achievement of the previous session.

Stressing that for the development of trade ties proper banking relations is inevitable, Nematzadeh said for the establishment of banking relations agreements should be reached in order to prepare the ground for the cooperation of private sectors of the two countries.

The minister further remarked that with regard to several engineering and contracting companies in Iran which are currently active in 48 world countries there is the capability of participating in infrastructural, industrial and mining projects in Tunisia.

Meanwhile, Tunisian Commerce and Handicrafts Minister Najla Harrouche voiced satisfaction with the level of Iran-Tunisia ties and said bilateral relations at present have resulted in satisfactory achievements.

She said the 12th session is considered a proper opportunity for evaluation of the work record of the joint commission as well as negotiations on the process of progress of activities of the commission.
