29 Dec 2014 - 8:24

Tehran, Dec 28, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Sunday that relations with Africa are top priority of Iran's foreign policy.
Zarif made the remarks in a meeting in Tehran with Mahboub Maalim, the Kenyan executive secretary of the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) – an eight-country African trade bloc.
Zarif voiced Tehran's readiness to boost relations with regional organizations including IGAD, saying there are no obstacles on the way of developing such cooperation.

Meanwhile, Mahboub Maalim expressed hope that consultations with Iranian officials would bring about new ways for establishment of peace and security in Islamic countries.

IGAD is a trade bloc of the Horn of Africa. It includes eight countries – namely, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Uganda, Kenya and Djibouti.
