Iranian judiciary chief urges US to end crimes, start respecting human rights

17 Dec 2014 - 21:59

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Judiciary Chief Sadeq Amoli Larijani called on the US administration to stop crimes against the Americans and other nations, and learn to respect the human rights.

"We hope that this anti-human rights situation will end in the US although they are unlikely to stop their tragic acts and behavior towards the innocent people inside the US and other parts of the world," Amoli Larijani said, addressing a number of judiciary officials in Tehran on Wednesday.

Noting that the world is aware of George W. Bush government's crimes against humanity, specially in Iraq and Afghanistan, he said the US statesmen's worst crime is their claim that killing, torturing and attacking the US citizens, specially the Blacks, doesn't matter as the recent Senate Intelligence Committee report on the use of torture in the post 9/11 period shows Washington's power.

"Actually, the US officials, police and law enforcement police are using people as a tool to attain their goals and exoneration of guilty police officers is just one of the scandals testifying to this fact," Amoli Larijani said.

His remarks came after the US Senate Intelligence Committee report showed that the CIA’s rendition, interrogation, and detention programs were even more nightmarish than one could imagine.

Interrogations that lasted for days on end; detainees forced to stand on broken legs, or go 180 hours in a row without sleep. A prison so cold, one suspect essentially froze to death.

Last Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham condemned the human rights violations by the CIA.

"The Late confession of US Senate to inhuman and catastrophic tortures against security suspects is an obvious sign of breaching the human rights on phony security pretexts," Afkham said.

“The contents of that shocking report reveal the undercover, aggressive, extremist nature of the American security apparatus that has become a part of its character,” she added.

Afkham said that the worrisome aspect of the matter is that those illegal and inhumane methods and the mentioned samples of behaviors in the report are still being practiced by the US security bodies and the American administration has not guaranteed to prevent the occurrence of such catastrophes from now on.

“A noticeable number of foreign countries’ citizens have been subjected to torture and it is expected that revealing of those acts will be the beginning of legal pursuance of those who have ordered and those who have implemented those criminal acts at the international scene,” she said.
