Tehran, Dec 10, IRNA – Iran has decided to ease transport of pilgrims to holy shrines and sites of Iraq by connecting its national railway to the neighboring Iraqi counterpart, Government Spokesman Mohammad Baqer Nobakht said on Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters at the end of a cabinet session, Nobakht said according to the decision made by the Iranian authorities, necessary measures will be taken to facilitate the Iranian pilgrims' travel to Iraq.
Nobakht added, Iran's Ministry of Roads and Urban Development as well as the Management and Planning Organization (MPO) have been assigned by the governemnt to implement the project.
The official noted that linking of Iran-Iraq railways together would pave the way for promotion of the two nations cooperation in the field of transportation.
