Nuclear deal possible if other side avoids excessive demands: Rouhani

19 Nov 2014 - 22:35

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said a nuclear deal between Iran and world powers is within reach provided that the other side raises no excessive demands.
“If the other side in the nuclear talks has the political will and avoids excessive demands, the conditions are ready for (the two sides) to reach an agreement,” Rouhani said Wednesday after a meeting of heads of Iran’s three branches of power.
He stressed that such a deal would be in the interest of everyone in the world as it could push the struggling world economy toward improvement, given Iran’s great economic potentials.

The Iranian chief executive also reiterated that there is a consensus within the Islamic Establishment to support the country’s negotiating team in the nuclear talks.

Since Tuesday, senior diplomats from Iran and the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) have launched a new round of talks in Vienna to draft a lasting accord, meant to end years of Western standoff over Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program.

The talks are expected to continue until November 24, a self-imposed deadline for the negotiations.
