Iran not to give up rights in nuclear talks: IRGC commander

18 Nov 2014 - 23:30

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps underlined that Iran is not going to step back from its rights, and added that a possible deal with world powers will prove Iran’s firm stance on its rights.
“We will not give up an iota of our rights and the Islamic Revolution values in the nuclear negotiations,” Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari said on Tuesday.
“If, God willing, the (nuclear) talks reach a conclusion, everyone will see that we have not given up (our nuclear rights),” he added.

The senior commander further said the purpose of the nuclear talks is the removal of sanctions, reiterating that “we want all sanctions to be lifted”.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) are working to hammer out a comprehensive deal after they clinched an interim nuclear accord last November that took effect on January 20 and expired six months later. The deadline for the talks has been set for November 24.

Diplomats from the two sides are currently in Vienna, Austria, to discuss the final, long-awaited agreement.

Elsewhere in his remarks, General Jafari referred to the indirect threats about the military option against Iran being on the table, and said the enemy has never dared to directly threaten the country.

In recent months, senior American officials, have time and again repeated their hostile stance on Iran.

In reply, Iran’s high-ranking officials have slammed the tone and described threatening the Iranian nation with the military option as a grave mistake.
