18 Nov 2014 - 9:55

TEHRAN (FNA)- Researchers of Iran's Amirkabir University of Technology have developed a method for making antibacterial cotton cloth.
The method seems to be more compatible with the environment because of its biological raw material solving water , the Iranian students news agency reported.

The Researchers have been looking for a method which makes Nano-meter layers on cotton cloth to preserve the main properties of the product including softness and resistance and also can include anti-bacterial properties.

Azadeh Bashiri, one of the researchers of project, said the method does not use non-biological anti-bacterial material.

The cloth can be produced easily and with low cost. Chitosan, used as the main anti-bacterial material in the cloth, makes it possible to use the cloth for industrial purposes.

The outcomes of the study show the cloth can be used for medical and sanitation purposes.

The results of the project have been published in the Journal of Fibers and Polymers.
