Iranian scientist awarded Golden Neuron Award

TEHRAN, Oct. 11 (MNA) – World Academy of Neurological Surgery awarded the Golden Neuron Award to the world renowned Iranian neurosurgeon Professor Majid Samii.

World academy of neurological surgery presented the Golden Neuron Award to Professor Samii at a formal ceremony attended by Austrian officials and world-class faculty today on October 11 in Vienna.


Just last month, he received the medal of science of Kazakhstan and the honorary professorship at Astrakhan University and was invited to train the neurological surgeons in that country.


Professor Majid Samii is the most honorable Iranian surgeon and has received several awards and international scientific medals in the field of neurological surgery.


In 2013, “World Neurosurgery”, the official journal of WFNS nominated Prof. Samii as “Neurosurgeon of the Year 2013” and dedicated the November issue to his life achievements. He has also been awarded several gold medals from a number of universities including the Columbian University of Antioquia, the Spanish Neurosurgery Society, and the Neurosurgical Society of America at Pebble Beach, California.


One of the most important achievements of professor Samii is education of more than a thousand neurosurgeons around the world, most of whom in leading positions in their countries.
