A car bomb explosion in Iraq’s capital city of Baghdad has claimed at least 12 lives, as violence rages on across the country.
Iraqi police and medical sources said on Thursday that the deadly bombing took place near a café in the Shia neighborhood of Sadr City late Wednesday, killing a dozen and injuring at least 33 people.

The large northeastern district is targeted by different kinds of bomb attacks almost every week.

On Monday, another car bomb attack killed nearly 20 people and injured 13 others in Iraq’s Salahuddin Province.

According to the United Nations, over 1,110 people lost their lives in acts of violence across Iraq last month.

The overall security situation in Iraq has worsened over the past months after the Takfiri terrorists of the ISIL, of whom many are foreign militants, took control of parts of Iraq’s northern and western regions.

They have been committing heinous crimes in the captured areas, including mass executions and beheadings of people.

The Western governments and their regional allies have contributed to the rise of the ISIL terrorists by sponsoring the militants fighting against the government in Syria.

The militants received training to use light and heavy weapons with the help of the US government at a secret base in Jordan in 2012, informed Jordanian officials say.
