Moscow, Oct 3, IRNA – Iran's Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanaei and Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East Affairs Mikhail Bogdanov discussed latest developments in Iraq and Syria on Friday.
The two officials have mainly exchanged views on security situation in Syria and Iraq regarding the spread of terrorism in the two Muslim countries.
They also discussed latest developments in the Middle East region.

The diplomats said Tehran and Moscow shared common stances vis-à-vis the fight against terrorist groups that are active in Iraq and Syria, particularly the terrorist group of Daesh (ISIL).

They urged the need for making joint efforts through the UN Security Council based on international standards to fight terrorism.

During the past three years, Tehran and Moscow have repeatedly criticized the West for its support for terrorist groups noting that supporting those groups would only lead to further intensification of their terrorist acts, stressed the two diplomats in the meeting.
