Speaking to IRNA on the sidelines of the Training Seminar of the CBI Statisticians, Ghorbani said that inflation currently stands at about 21.1 percent and the point-to-point inflation is about 14.4 percent.
He said that the government is working to stem inflation as its major agenda.

He added that inflation rate was about 40 percent in October 2013.

Following the measures taken for stabilization of the forex market by boosting foreign reserves and immunizing the national economy from impacts of external shocks, the government managed to stem inflation rate constantly, he said.

He said the Ministry of Economy and Finance has been playing a valuable role in forex and monetary stability, succeeding to curb inflation to some extent and direct financial resources to the manufacturing and employment sectors.
