10 Sep 2014 - 15:11

Dushanbe, Sept 10, IRNA – Visiting President Hassan Rouhani called for enhancement of economic cooperation between Iran and Tajikistan in a meeting here with his Tajik counterpart Imomali Rahmon.
The call was made in a meeting held by Iranian and Tajik delegations to discuss ways to expand bilateral cooperation between the two capitals. The meeting was co-chaired by President Rouhani and Rahmon.

Referring to Tehran-Dushanbe cultural and historical commonalties, President Rouhani said the two capitals would always stay together as two brotherly countries.

The fact that Tehran and Dushanbe share joint positions on major regional issues will help further boost their relations, he said.

Meanwhile, President Rahmon told his Iranian counterpart that Dushanbe was interested in sharing Tehran's views on various sectors to promote the level of bilateral relations.

President Rouhani arrived here on Wednesday from Astana, Kazakhstan, on the second leg of his five-day tour to the region.

He is accompanied by a high-ranking political and economic delegation.
