Leader orders to cancel Ahmadinejad questioning

21 Nov 2012 - 18:20

previously, Iranian MPs announced that they prepared a motion to question president Ahmadinejad, But today Supreme Leader asked lawmakers to stop the questioning of  Ahmadinejad.
Following the recent currency and gold crisis in Iran, some members of parliament believed that the government was responsible for the currency crisis and planed to question the president over the issue.

During last weeks 102 parliament members signed the document, which was submitted to parliament’s planning committee. However later some 40 signatures were taken off the document, thus the document was not submitted.

According to the law, at least 74 iranian parliament members must sign the document for it to be submitted for review.

But then again, 83 Iranian parliament members signed a document for country president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s questioning, Mehr reported.

On the other hand, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in a meeting with the militia arm of Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps, the Basij on Wednesday asked Mps to cancel the questioning.

"Up to this point, the plan to question the president has been positive because of the sense of responsibility of parliament and the readiness of government officials, But if this issue goes any further, it will be what the enemies want and so I ask the honorable representatives not to continue with it," he said.
