A senior Iranian lawmaker says the ongoing nuclear negotiations between Tehran and the P5+1 group must guarantee Iran’s nuclear rights and see sanctions against the country removed.
“Agreements with the P5+1 should be finalized under circumstances where the Islamic Republic’s rights are preserved and issues such as the lifting of sanctions which is among important topics in the talks included,” said Alaeddin Boroujerdi, who chairs the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of Iran's Majlis.

Iran has clearly announced its positions to the six countries, he said, stressing that Tehran’s stances are based on the realities on the ground as well as international regulations such as the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

The Iranian legislator emphasized that the US must alter its “illegal and irrational” stand in the nuclear negotiations, saying, “The US should change the policy of confrontation it is pursuing under the Zionists’ pressure into one of interaction.”

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council – the United States, Russia, China, Britain and France – plus Germany officially kicked off the sixth round of nuclear talks on Thursday to discuss a final accord on Tehran’s nuclear energy program.

Representatives of Iran and the P5+1 started drafting the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on Friday.

Iran and the six countries have been discussing ways to sort out their differences and achieve a final deal that would end the decade-old dispute over Tehran’s nuclear energy program.
