A senior Iranian nuclear negotiator says a final nuclear deal between Iran and the P5+1 group must lead to the removal of all sanctions imposed against the Islamic Republic.
Iran insists that all bans on the country  be lifted “in the shortest time possible” as part of any permanent nuclear deal between Iran and the P5+1 – the US, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany – said Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Abbas Araqchi on Monday.

The Iranian official further stated that the six countries see eye to eye with Tehran over the removal of all anti-Iran sanctions.

Araqchi also described excessive demands by certain countries as the main stumbling block to progress in the ongoing nuclear negotiations between Tehran and the six world powers.

The six countries must accept that the Western dispute over Tehran’s peaceful nuclear work could be resolved only through “fair negotiations, respect for the rights of the Iranian nation and working out confidence-building options over our (Iran's) nuclear program,” he added.

According to Araqchi, if Tehran’s negotiating partners are determined to reach a final nuclear deal with Iran, they should seriously avoid “illusions, unreal expectations and excessive demands” that were put forward by the Western side in the previous nuclear negotiations.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister further reaffirmed that Tehran’s nuclear energy program would be the only subject on the agenda of its talks with the P5+1, stressing that Iran’s defense industry and missiles are non-negotiable.

Iran and the six countries have been holding talks to iron out their differences and ink a permanent accord, which would end the Western standoff over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear energy program. The two sides signed an interim deal last November.

On Sunday, Araqchi said Iran and the P5+1 remain divided on the “content” of the final accord, adding, however, that Tehran will continue to stand by its “views” which are in line with “international law.”

The two sides are set to resume their nuclear discussions on July 2 in the Austrian capital of Vienna.
