UN lauds Iran efforts to revive Orumiyeh Lake

Mahabad, West Azarbaijan prov, June 26, IRNA - UN Assistant Secretary General and the UNDP regional director for Asia and the Pacific praised the Iranian government endeavors to revive the Orumiyeh Lake here on Thursday.
He made the statement in a local gathering in this northwestern province.
The interaction and cooperation of the Iranian executive organizations and the private sector have increased hopes for revival of Oroumiyeh Lake.

Second largest lake in the Middle East, after Caspian Sea and the sixth largest salt water lake in the planet, Orumiyeh Lake, is drying up.

The Lake, located in northwest of the country, is internationally protected area as both a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and a Ramsar Site.
