BEIJING, Nov. 10 (Xinhuanet) -- It is not the first time that a US unmanned aircraft has been attacked by Iranian forces. The RQ-170 Sentinel, an unmanned aerial vehicle was captured by Iran last December near the city of Kashmar in northeastern Iran. The US request to return the captured drone was denied.

Iran later announced it had succeeded in extracting the data collected by the drone and was in the process of building a replica of the aircraft. In September, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard unveiled its own long-range drone, capable of reaching most of areas of the Middle East. The reconnaissance drone has a range of 2,000 km and is capable of carrying bombs and missiles.
