The US has used the allegations against Iran’s nuclear energy program as a pretext to create problems for Tehran in different areas, a political analyst tells Press TV.
“The nuclear issue is being used as an excuse to undermine Iran, to cause problems for Iran, because the United States has a history of causing problems in social, political, economic problems for Iran,” said Hamid Golpira in a Sunday interview.

The analyst also added that the West’s economic interests are also a part of the reason behind the existing objections to Iran’s right to enrich uranium.
“If they (the West) say you can have a nuclear reactor and not the ability to produce fuel, that costs money to buy fuel from another place when Iran has uranium mines, Iran has the ability to produce this nuclear fuel through uranium enrichment,” he said.
Golpira said that the US is likely to create new obstacles in the way of Iran’s nuclear dossier and called on the international community, particularly the member states of the Non-Aligned Movement, to unite against such a hostile policy by Washington.

On October 31, Iran and the six major world powers wrapped up their expert-level negotiations over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear energy program in Vienna.

The two sides concluded two days of talks in Geneva on October 16. Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif described the talks as “extensive” and “fruitful.”

European Union Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton, who represents the six countries in the talks, also hailed the nuclear talks as the “most detailed” and “substantive” held between the two sides.

Iran and the six major world powers have agreed to meet again in Geneva on November 7-8.

The US, Israel, and some of their allies have repeatedly accused Iran of pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program, with the US and the European Union having used the pretext to impose illegal sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

Iran rejects the allegation, arguing that as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, it has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
